SOFTCOVER

The gathered sections of the book are milled; the single pages brought about by this are glued in the cover by means of hotmelt.

+

  • Cheap binding method.

  • Poor lay-flat
  • When you bend the spine of the cover, the glue will break, causing the glue to lose its functionality.
  • When the hotmelt gets warmer than 60 degrees Celcius, the hotmelt will get soft again, as a result the book will fall apart.
  • When the hotmelt gets colder than +8 degrees, the hotmelt, when used, will break, causing the book to fall apart.
  • The hotmelt is sensitive to the solvents present in the ink, the glue might soapen. Especially in uncoated kinds of paper a lot of solvents remain in the paper.
